Engineering, Procurement, Testing, and Commissioning (EPTC) of Temperature Monitoring Systems

This project outlines the scope for the comprehensive Engineering, Procurement, Testing, and Commissioning (EPTC) of a sophisticated temperature monitoring system. The system will encompass temperature sensors, Data Acquisition Systems (DAS), and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) solutions. Its purpose is to enable precise collection, monitoring, and analysis of temperatures across various sections of a cold storage facility.

Background

The User operates a seafood processing center located in Karachi, Pakistan. The facility is divided into several critical operational zones that require rigorous temperature control and monitoring to ensure product quality. The specific sections of the plant include:

1. Shrimp Washing Area – Initial processing zone where temperature control is crucial.
2. Freezers – Comprising:
   • Two Airblast Freezers (ABFs)
   • Two Brine Freezers (BFs)
3. Process Rooms – Areas where processing activities take place.
4. Cold Storage – Long-term storage area for processed seafood.
5. Anteroom – Transitional space between processing and storage areas.
6. Chillrooms – Dedicated areas for quality control through temperature measurement and analysis.

To ensure the highest level of product quality, the User requires a robust monitoring system to continuously track and analyze shrimp temperatures both locally within the facility and remotely from the headquarters (HQ).

System Description

The proposed temperature monitoring system integrates the following components and technologies:

1. Data Acquisition Systems (DAS):
   • DAS 1: Installed at the Washing and Grading Lines. This system is responsible for collecting and processing temperature data specific to these initial processing stages.
   • DAS 2: Located at the Main Panel. This system consolidates and processes data from all other components for centralized monitoring and control.
2. Local Control Panels (LCPs):
   • LCPs at Washing and Grading Lines: Each line is equipped with two LCPs that:
     • Display Local Temperature Readings: Real-time temperature monitoring specific to each line.
     • Provide Audible Alerts: Immediate notifications to operators if temperature deviations or anomalies are detected.
     • Data Transmission: Connect to the Main Panel through a Data Gateway for real-time data transmission.
3. Main Panel Components:
   • Analog Input Module (AIM): Receives and processes analog signals from temperature sensors distributed across various sections of the facility.
   • Data Gateway (DG): Facilitates the communication of data between the LCPs, the AIM, and external networks. The DG also ensures data aggregation and processing.
4. Data Storage and Transfer Mechanisms:
   • Integrated Memory: The Data Gateway includes local storage capacity to temporarily hold data if there is an interruption in internet connectivity.
   • Cloud Storage: Data collected is uploaded to the cloud for remote access and long-term storage once internet connectivity is reestablished.
5. User Interfaces:
   • Web User Interface (WUI): Provides a comprehensive platform for data visualization and analysis. Users can access real-time and historical temperature data.
   • Mobile Applications: Available for iOS and Android devices, these apps offer convenient access to cloud-stored data and system notifications.
6. Alert System:
   • Automated Alerts: The system is designed to trigger immediate alerts via the WUI and mobile applications if any temperature anomalies or discrepancies are detected. This ensures timely intervention to maintain optimal conditions.
